Z-OptimiZr for Web Browsers

Reduce the size of all files uploaded using Microsoft Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome and Firefox!

Web browsers are used to upload files to many different platforms:

Web mails
like Microsoft OWA, IBM iNotes or Verse, Outlook.com, Gmail etc.

Collaboration platforms
like Microsoft SharePoint and IBM Connections

Cloud storage services
like Microsoft OneDrive, IBM Box, Google Drive or Dropbox,
See also Z-OptimiZr for Cloud Storage.

Other web applications

Z-OptimiZr for Web Browsers can make these files on average two times smaller.

Two times smaller files are uploaded and downloaded two times faster and consume two times less network bandwidth and disk space.

Since files consume most of the network and storage resources of IT organizations, reducing (by 50% on average) the size of all files uploaded via the web browsers delivers numerous benefits:

Faster file uploads and downloads, reduction of Network and storage needs, Email and collaboration servers (like SharePoint servers) performing better (since their load is very significantly reduced), opportunity to host more users on your existing IT infrastructures...

How does Z-OptimiZr work?

Z-OptimiZr for Web Browser is fully automatic and transparent.
Browser Users have nothing to do. They select or drag and drop the files to upload or to attach as usual. The selected files are automatically made smaller by Z-OptimiZr for Web Browsers before to be uploaded.

Z-OptimiZr for Web Browser natively optimizes MS Office files (like DOCX, PPTX and XLSX).
The optimized MS Office files remain in their native format. The recipients and consumers of the optimized files do not need any specific software to open these files.
There is no decompression process required: Optimized MS Office files remain fully standard MS Office file.

Z-OptimiZr for Web Browser natively optimizes image and picture files.
The image and picture files (JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP, EMF, WMF, TIF and TIFF files) remain image files once optimized. The recipients and consumers of the optimized files do not need any specific software to open these files.
There is no decompression process required: Optimized image files remain fully standard image files.
More information about Native Image File Optimization.

Z-OptimiZr can Zip-Compress files for which Native Optimization does not apply.
Zip compression can thus be applied to files other than MS Office and image files.
Z-OptimiZr includes the automatic and transparent decompression of the downloaded Zip files.

Additional features:

PDF Conversion in one click
On-demand single-click on-the-fly PDF conversion for the files selected to be uploaded. The resulting PDF files are optimized for high quality rendering and low size in KB.

Encryption in one click
On-demand single-click on-the-fly Standard Zip and AES-256 password-based Zip encryption for the files selected to be uploaded.

Typical residual sizes of files optimized by Z-OptimiZr:

In percent of their original size:
  • XML files (DOCX, PPTX, XLSX etc.) 49% 49%
  • Image files (JPG, PNG, BMP etc.) 32% 32%

Evaluate Z-OptimiZr for Web Browsers, it’s as easy as 1-2-3!

1 - Download the fully functional evaluation version of Z-OptimiZr and run the installation package:

2 - Open your web browser on a page enabling you to upload files (for instance edit an email, or open your OneDrive home page).

3 - Select some files as usual and validate the file selection dialog (or drag and drop files if dragging and dropping files is an option in your context).

That's all!

Depending on the size of your files, you may see a progress bar briefly displayed before the optimized files are passed to the web page. Then an optional panel showing the optimization results is displayed for a few seconds.

Display or download sample files before and after optimization:

Download sample files before and after Z-OptimiZr Native Optimization. Compare them on your own PC.

Z-OptimiZr Native Optimization applied to XML files (DOCX, PPTX, XLSX etc. files) and picture files (JPG, GIF, BMP, PNG, TIF, TIFF, EMF and WMF files), delivers excellent volume reduction ratios (over 50% on average).

And this, with a 100% transparency for the recipients, since the optimized attached files remain in their original format, there is no decompression needed. Brilliant!

Example of files before and after optimization:

Image files...

With OWA, SharePoint or OneDrive, as well as with any other web page displayed in the browser, Z-OptimiZr for Web Browsers instantly reduces the size of the files to upload (by 50% on average), and this with no question asked to the users!

By drastically minimizing our network usage Z‑OptimiZr really helped us in our migration to the Cloud!

We initially licensed Z-OptimiZr for Web Browsers to use it with IBM iNotes. Later on, we migrated to Microsoft and we were surprised to see that Z-OptimiZr was working perfect with Microsoft OWA, with no reconfiguration or re-installation needed!

Today we installed our first SharePoint server for evaluation purpose and guess what, Z-OptimiZr is working just fine with SharePoint, even when dragging and dropping files to SharePoint libraries!

Fantastic!

Several of our browser-based corporate applications require us to upload files in PDF format. Thanks to Z-OptimiZr, When selecting MS Office files to upload in the browser (we use Chrome and IE), it takes only one click to convert them to PDF files.

Plus the size of the resulting PDF files is really small and their rendering quality is just perfect, even for printing.

Thumbs up!
